09: Constructing Sentences and Building Paragraphs
- Date: November 15, 2019, 2-6 pm c.t.
- Room: Ludwigstr. 28, back building, Raum 503
- Presenter: Mark Olival-Bartley, M.A.
- Registration: starting October 01, 2019
Writing is the accretion of words into designs of meaning that grow evermore complex: Writers mine, smelt, and mill words; they solder them into phrases; they weld those into clauses; and they forge these into sentences, which are collected into paragraphs that, through recursive revision, are gilt, filigreed, and burnished into brilliance. In this four-hour workshop, the rhetorical mechanics at work in this extended metaphor (vis-à-vis the sentence and paragraph) will be introduced and practiced.
Target group: all students
