09: Becoming Spiderman: Swing on Threads of Transition amid Webs of Argumentation

Description
Consider the mobility of Spiderman, swinging, as he is wont, ever agile, negotiating traffic, vagaries of architecture, and even pigeons. Now, consider the means by which an academic argument in your field is constructed in English, swinging, you might say, ever agile, negotiating evidence, vagaries of rhetoric, and even commas. This hands-on workshop will train you to dial up your tingling Spidersense up to eleven to read the lay of the land, as it were, of academic paragraph design—from transitional phrases to sentence styles, from lexical choices to verb tenses, we’ll learn to exercise the full range of our compositional powers.

Should you be unable to participate, you may cancel your registration until Wednesday, May 12. For unexcused absences, we do reserve the right to refuse future participation in Writing Center events.
